Mission:
The Sisterhoods mission is to empower the young ladies and women of our community through the gift of empowerment and mentorship. We aim to create a strong network of mentors for female mentees from every walk of life to assist them in realizing and operating in their life’s purpose. Our target age groups are 12-19 and 20-35 (young ladies only). Through experiences and events hosted by The Sisterhood, our mentees will learn the value of empowerment & mentorship. They will learn they are not trophies but powerful leaders in the making. It is our purpose to help shape the minds of our future entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, chefs, Olympic athletes, actresses and Presidents! They are and will be a reflection of the communities support.
Vision: Our vision is to spread this movement globally, while having and providing a multitude of various resources to assist mentees in selecting a viable career path, cultivating entrepreneurship, enriching and expanding educational experiences, refining self-perception, and becoming strong leaders in their community and eventually the world.
After years of participating in activities involving the youth through different organizations and institutions (i.e. Girls and Boys Club and visiting inmate programs through the prison system), there seemed to be a common factor among many of the youth: a deficiency of proper or sufficient mentoring. Many were from single-parent homes where supervision and proper mentoring can be challenged. As a result of these challenges, many of the youth slip through the cracks of society thereby increasing the statistics of unplanned pregnancies (of which 25% are teenagers, ref: The Washington Post 03.25.13, “Nine Facts about Marriage and Childbirth in the United States”), school dropouts, financial deficiencies, or into the penal system. The Sisterhood focuses on teenage girls and young women of the designated age groups, all racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Through empowering events, The Sisterhood will reiterate the need for mentors and introduce mentees to new ideas regarding their future careers and endeavors. The events will create a platform that will provide a more organic environment for mentees to meet prospective mentors.The ultimate idea is to encourgae mentees to get started on their future....... NOW!
The mentees will be empowered by exposure to mentoring and self-awareness experiences which equip them for greater success that would normally elude them due to the disadvantages previously mentioned. By establishing a personal and professional network system in which to assist and mentor these young women through their individual journeys and through life, their futures have the amazing opportunity to be rewritten to tell a story of success instead of failure. We believe the success of these young ladies will positively influence the succeeding generations of young women yet to come.
To host a multitude of events touching deeply on issues plaguing our young female population and providing experiences that incorporate fun, creativity and empowerment.This plan will allow us to acquire an arsenal of qualified mentors and meet many young ladies in need of a mentor. This plan will produce a positive rapport and make the public aware The Sisterhood is on a Mission to make a difference in a profound manner.
