MEET THE FOUNDER

It was fall 2005 when a young Adra Campbell , trying to find something to do, casually strolled into the Volunteer Orientation at the Raleigh Girls Club. There was an instant spark when meeting those curious little girls that she would eventually serve as a basketball coach. After the first basketball game she was hooked! It was witnessing the development of skills and seeing such strength and character in their personalities so young was simply captivating! It would be approximately 8 years before Adra felt her calling was on a slightly different trajectory. There was more in her future than coaching little girls. After seeing how much impact her influence had and countless encounters with women in need, it became clear that mentoring young girls and women was her true mission. In August of 2014 Adra founded The Sisterhood!

Adra wants to share her belief that the time to be phenomenal is NOW! Our young girls and women should not have to rely on a milestone such as a graduation, marriage, or motherhood to determine their purpose. While these events are important they are what we should view as a way of life. There should also be a visceral need to dismantle the "knight in shining armor" syndrome. Our young female population should know there is no need for someone to save you. If the community (their village) supports them wholeheartedly we will see our young female population develop in a stronger, healthier & ambitious manner.
